Video Game Violence Controversey – Arcade Games Banned

In the mid-90's, the video game industry was moving from the sprite-based games into the 3-D / texture-mapping relm. The graphic content was becoming so well-defined it was believed in the media and abroad games were teaching kids how to harm one another. This resulted in certain games that depicted graphic violence being pulled from arcade amusement centers.

Virtua Fighter, unlike most fighting games during its release, uses real life fighting. No fictional moves like fireballs, stretching bodies nor blowing bodies up with just punches and kicks.

The days of these bills are numbered. Congress does things to please the constituents. As more constituents are familiar and tolerant with video games, these game-banning bills won't work anymore.

Honest to god, Congress is just waiting for that one nut job to kill someone because he saw it in a game so then can ruin games in the US. The funny part is they been waiting since the early 90's and still nothing. It's very funny actually. I honestly can say that video games do not make people wanna kill other people, crazy people wanna kill other people for crazy reasons. It's been proven many times in the past. Just like at Virginia Tech as an example, a horrid example but it fits the bill.

If it wasn't for "video games" as they call them (hello! its not the 80's!) i would of killed a whole load of people by now.

    Great stress relief

They're afraid of factors increasing that count, they want to keep the populace repressed in this matter.

I personally think it's a crock of shit, but, oh well.

When they aren't blaming hip-hip they blame videogames.

It's extremely rare that a kid will go out and kill someone with e. g. an axe because of Mortal Kombat. If they did then they're fucking crazy and have problems. Blame it on the parents.

When will they learn it's a problem with society?

"video game fan"?!?!? wow its called a gamer. . wow so ignerant

  25. okamiotaku Said,

videogames and real-life violence are comepletely different. those people know that it is wrong to kill people, yet they do it anyways, with or without playing videogames. these people don't take responsibility for their own actions, so they end up blaming violent videogames to avoid jail time.
